The mk2 Toyota Celica represents a bunch of different things in my life. Going back to my late 80’s childhood era, memories of my dad’s white 1982 Toyota Celica which took us every where and was pretty much everything to us from the family’s road trip mobile, school bus, and ambulance for me and my brothers.
A good friend of mine, who is also a Toyota fanatic, forwarded me a Craigslist ad pointing to a 1982 Toyota Celica Supra for $15k. I was fortunate enough to catch up with the current owner, Mike, out in the Colorado Springs to get the details of the car and his story.
As the current 4th owner of this red on red mk2 Celica Supra, Mike admits this is a not perfect show car of any sorts such as the OEM 5 channel radio is going out and small rock chips litter the hood. To me, it’s not perfect for all of the right reasons as he actually daily his car with odometer reading just shy of 150,000 miles. It is absolutely amazing for a 39 year old car, whole car looks amazing. The inline 6 DOHC 5M-GE sounds pure yet different from any other Toyota engine from it’s same period.
With all of it’s great attributes, Mike’s mk2 Celica Supra needs to go to a new home and owner. Mike is planning to move to Mexico fairly shortly and with how the current law sits, Mexico does not allow importation of vehicles built outside of the USA.
